Before the state Legislative Judiciary Committee, petitioners including some members of the Harvard Faculty, yesterday sought the abolition of the death penalty for criminal offenses. Among the group was Kirtley F. Mather, professor of Geology, and Professors Zechariah Chafee, Jr. and Sheldon Glueck of the Law School.
