Commuters Beat Lowell To Tie for Championship In House Baseball League

Coming from behind in the last inning with a two run rally Dudley's indoor baseball team won over Lowell yesterday afternoon at Briggs Cage to tie with Kirkland for the championship of the league.

Lowell scored three runs in the first inning, but after that Larry Alexander, Commuter hurler, backed by errorless support, kept the Bellboys from crossing the plate.

In the first of the seventh Dudley, behind by two runs, got two men on base with two out. At this point Alexander proceeded to win his own game by knocking in his two teammates with a hit which stuck in the net of the cage.

Gene Murphy, Dudley center fielder, saved the game in the last of the seventh by an outstanding catch of a long line drive in deep center field and then a perfect throw to first to complete a double-play.

In the other game, Leverett won over Winthrop 13 to 7 in two innings, completing the game which was called off at the end of the fifth inning Wednesday. Ernie Sargeant, Bunny pitcher, struck out three Winthrop men in the seventh inning to end the game.
