Trenches bisecting the Yard from the McKean gate to University Hall and beyond were discovered yesterday to be nothing more than sites for new electrical conduits.
The large heaps of earth which were used as breastworks in the recent seige of the University in the partition of Cambridge battle will be removed when the work of laying the pipes for the increased electrical load is completed. This will not be in the near future, foremen said.
