It might have been a visiting Rotarian being received in the Yard this morning by a group of brothers. There was hand-shaking and calls such as "hiya chief" or "good to see you back, Charlie."

But the object of the felicitations was no dignitary of any "sacred brotherhood". He was Colonel Charles A. Apted, superintendent of caretakers, being hailed on his return to duty after a week's absence due to sickness. It was the first time in 18 years that the Colonel has missed a day's work through illness.
