BURT GILKEY TO MEET AS TENNIS FINALISTS

KAHN BOWS TO BURT; DICKINSON TO GILKEY IN SEMIS

Captain Langdon. B. Gilkey '40 and David S. Burt '40 entered the finals of the University tournament yesterday as the seedings hold true to form. Hurt defeated for the right to meet Gilkey who had already entered the finals by his victory over Al Dickinson (2B) 3-6, 6-2, 6-0.

There were two upsets in the earlier rounds. Howard Kahn third seeded John Palfrey in a quarter final round grueller, while unseeded Dickinson ousted Chester Legg '40 in an earlier round. Another surprise came when Arthur Brooks '39 defeated Jack Stewart '40 to gain the distinction of being the only senior in the quarter finals. Walter Muther '40 gave Burt his stiffest battle before succumbing in three sets.

Scores From 4th Round On

Fourth round: Brooks defeated Stewart 3-6, 6-4, 10-8; Dickinson defeated Legg 6-2, 6-1; Gilkey beat B. Straus '41 6-1, 6-2; Burt defeated Peabody '41 6-1, 7-5; Muther beat R. Eckman '41, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0; Palfrey beat W. Everts 6-3, 6-2.

Quarter finals: Dickinson beat Brooks 6-1, 6-1; Gilkey beat Key 9-7, 6-2; Burt beat Muther 6-1, 6-8, 6-2; Kahn beat Palfrey 6-1, 7-9, 6-3. Semi finals: Gilkey beat Dickinson 3-6, 6-2, 6-0; Burt beat Kahn 6-0, 2-6, 6-1.
