Cornell's basketball team will be coached by Blair Gullion, head coach at the University of Tennessee since 1935, the Cornell Athletic Association has announced.
The year before Gullion went to Tennessee his hoop team at Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana, won the Indiana Intercollegiate championship with 24 victories and no losses.
Purdue Graduate
Graduated from Purdue University in 1924, he played on its basketball team for three years, captaining it in his final year. Gullion's teams at Tennessee were known for a "set" offense with a wide variety of plays. They employed a combination of man-to-man and zone defense.
His record there was 47 victories and 19 defeats in three years. He also coached track, and for the past three years his teams have won the state championships. He replaces J. K. "Bo" Rowland who will now spend full time on football coaching.
