Eighteen friends of the late Mr. Wells are organizing a fund in the College Library to be known as the Edgar Huidekoper Wells Memorial, the income to be applied to the purchase of books. Subscribers to the fund are requested to send contributions to William H. Claflin, Jr., Treasurer of Harvard College, 24 Milk Street, Boston.
Mr. Wells died July 2, 1938. From 1902 to 1906 he was an instructor in English, from 1903 to 1913 curator of modern English Literature in the College Library; then became successively assistant dean and acting dean of the college. From 1907 to 1913 he was secretary of the Harvard Alumni Association, and later became editor of the Alumni Bulletin. He received the British Military Cross during the World War.
