William Y. Elliott, professor of Government, is one of the 46 national leaders who have been summoned to a Conference who have been summoned to a Conference in Washington with President Roosevelt on next Wednesday.
Authorities expressed the opinion that this meeting was a preliminary step toward some now cooperative venture, such as the NRA, between government and industry.
Elliott has been on the Harvard Faculty since 1925 and in 1935 published a book entitled "The Need for Constitutional Reform."
Among others to whom invitations have been sent are Lincol Filene, Chairman of Filene's department store in Boston, W. Averill Harriman, Chairman of the Board of the Union pacific Railroad, Kermit Roosevelt '09, president of the Roosevelt Steamship line, and Walter C. Teagle, Chairman of the Board of the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey.
