YARDLING HAS TROUBLE WITH PROF. MERRIMAN'S ELOCUTION

First lectures of courses are generally unimportant. There are few notes to take. The purpose of first meetings, indeed, is just to get acquainted.

There is, however, the matter of getting straight what books are necessary. Every Freshman knows this, and yesterday a Yardling was bound he would not miss a single book for History 1.

Unfortunately he had a little difficulty understanding History 1's mentor, Professor Merriman. For the Yardling appeared at the Phillips Brooks House loan library and gave the attendant a sheet of paper, on which, legibly enough, was inscribed: "Silipus at Bernstein Hall."
