Seven Charles Dexter scholarships totalling $4,095, permitting study in England, have been awarded for the summer of 1937.
The winners are: Robert J. Allen, instructor in English; Joseph McG. J. Bottkol 5G, of Menominee, Mich.; Ronald C. Dixon 4G, of Lake George, N. Y.; Henry G. B. Halvorson 3G, of Huntington Park, Calif; Roy Lamson, Jr.; instructor in English; Louis G. Locke 3G, of Woodstock, Va.; and Chester L. Shaver 4G, of Somerset, Pa.
The Dexter scholarships were established in 1922 from the bequest of Annie L. Dexter in memory of her father, Charles Dexter, to encourage young men to "to study profoundly the English language," and to enable them "to visit Oxford and Cambridge in England, or the cathedral towns in England."
