This noon in the Union, the CRIMSON's annual poll of the Freshman class on the subject of teaching in the elementary courses gets under way.
The poll, which will continue at dinner tonight and at noon and night tomorrow, is designed to gather material for publication in the first section of the Confidential Guide for the Class of 1041. This first section will consist of detailed comments on each course open to Freshmen, with discussions of the material covered, the texts used, the ability and scholarship of the men giving the courses and the fairness of the examinations and assignments.
One sheet will be provided for each course a man is taking and all Freshmen are urged to fill out the questionnaires completely and sincerely. Only if there is a fair cross section of the class represented in the answers to the poll, can the Guide be in any way informative, or instructive for the new entering class.
After the blanks have been filled in and the material and opinions in them correllated and compiled, the first section of the Guide will be written. The second section will consist of the Fields of Concentration articles now running in the CRIMSON.
The Guide in pamphlet form will be mailed out to all members of the class of 1941 during the last week in August, and will be designed to reach them at a time when they will be occupied in drawing up their programs for their first year of study.
