Walsh or Shean Slated to Twirl Against Wildcat Nine

Fresh from a decisive victory ever Pennsylvania and apparently hitting their top form at bat and in the field, the heavily favored crimson toady tangles with a weak Now Hampshire nine at Durham in a non-league encounter.

Although the Wildcats have been woefully ineffective to date, bowing before the Holy Cross sluggers 25-0, today's clash will partly determine whether the Mitchellmen can play winning hall without Ed Ingalls on the mound.

Thursday against Tufts, the Varsity was pitiful behind the twirling of Royal Victor, Slim Curtine, and A1 Colwell, but made a complete reversal in form with Ingalls telling on Saturday quelling the Quaker bat-wavers 4-1.

Continuing his search for a winning pitcher to use this weekend when the Varsity faces Penn, Columbia, Princeton, and Brown in three days Coach Fred Mitchell was undecided last night between Lefty Dick Walsh and Dave Shean for the starting role this afternoon.

A regular hurler last spring, Walsh has been unable to turn in a victory this season in four starts. if the big southpaw comes into his own against New Hampshire, he will undoubtedly get the call in one of the important contests at the end of the week.

Untested against stiff competition, Shean's slow-ball has successfully baffled Brown and Northeastern batters. Because of his past performances the newly discovered pitcher in certain to start one of the weekend games.

With Ruse Allen out of the lineup for an indefinite period because of illness, the showing of Bob Gannett in right field against the Quakers was a great consolation. Gannet will start again today, while Jim Sullivan will continue to cover the left garden.

Although his spiked heel has recovered, Art Johns is now suffering from a wrenched knee which will not permit his participation today. Dick Grondahl, utility outfielder, will be stationed at second in place of the ailing second sacker. With the exception of Allan and Johns, Mitchell will start his regular lineup against New Hampshire.
