Mountaineering Club Makes Fifth Climb of Year Sunday

To Ascend Huntington's Pinnacle on Last Jaunt

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

For their fifth and final climb of the year, the Mountaineering Club will ascend Pinnacle Mountain in Huntington's Ravine this Sunday. The climbers will stay at the Mountaineering Club cabin over the weekend and will start out on the all day sabbath jaunt under the leadership of Dana B. Durand, instructor in History and Literature.

Four previous hikes have taken the Mountaineerers to the Quincy Quarries, Pulpit Rock in Nahant, Pawtuckaway, and Joe English Hill. Of the 35 undergraduate and 70 graduates in the Club, about 15 have negotiated each trip. Ten of these are consistent performers, including officers Colin Maclaurin '38, and David Stacey '40.

This summer the Club plans a three-week expedition to the Selkirk Mountains in Western Canada. Eight men have already signified their intention of going on the trip, and if new talent is uncovered on the final weekend jaunt, more will be invited.
