Kirkland Shuts Out Dudley As Winthrop Outhits Dunster

Moser Pitches for Deacons in Tight Game, Yields Three Hits

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Kirkland found more opposition in its last game of the season, with Dudley, than in any of its five previous victories. The Commuters held them to three runs, two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Dudley flashed fine fielding, and the pitching of Arnold Bronstein '37 was effective, allowing the hard-hitting Deacons only two hits, although two of the runs resulted from passes.

Dudley nicked Byron W. Moser, Jr. '37 for three hits, but seven went down by the strike-out route. The lineups:

KIRKLAND (3): Davis, 3b; Carr, ss; Moser, p; Kessler, c; Spring, lf; Marks, 2b; Howe, rf; Abrams, cf; Ross, 1b. DUDLEY (0): Turesky, 2b; Simons, ss; Linchitz, c; Bronstein, p; Murphy, 1b; Sugerman, 3b; Cohen, cf; Kalman, lf; O'Neill, rf. Subs: Mazel, rf; Skinner, cf.

Winthrop Wins

At the same time, Winthrop and Dunster engaged in a free-hitting brawl, ending in favor of the Puritans, 11-6. They found the twirling of George W. Blackwood '37 to their liking, knocking out 11 hits in the first four innings.

In the third inning, successive bingles by Daniel E. Burbank '37, Charles L. Moore '38, and Ernest A. Gray '37 were followed by a double by Verner E. Kelly '37, who later scored for a total of four runs.

Dunster, banging out 13 hits in all, retaliated in the fourth inning with four singles and as many runs. However, Winthrop's three runs in the first and two in the fourth sewed up the game. The lineups: WINTHROP (11): Gilliland, cf; Burbank, 3b, ss; Moore, ss, lf; Gray, c; Kelley, 2b; Turner, lf, rf; Benedict, Ib; Ellis, p; Blumberg, rf. Subs: Downs, 3b. DUNSTER (6): Pamp, cf; Jones, 3b; Hunter, 1b; Caldwell, c; Blackwood, P; Brooks, 2b; George, lf; Hampson, ss; Nuabaum, rf.
