GLEE CLUB, STUDENTS CAROL TO 1800 FROM WIDENER STEPS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In time with the scmaphored signals of a WIXAL, crew in the Memorial Chapel, the Glee Club and University students swung through their first spring Yard concert yesterday evening at twilight, as 1800 listeners rumpled the grass of Sever quadrangle.

Thanks to the punctual arrival of singers and audience, the program by the Club singers was concluded soon enough so that the Harvard songs also could be put on the air, with some 400 students joining the Club on Widener steps.

The double quartet in "Jagdlied" made a surprise move by singing on the western pier of the steps apart from their fellows, who hissed disapproval. But Conductor Woodworth was so pleased by the effect that he is considering putting the double quartet across the quadrangle on the steps of Memorial Chapel in the second Yard concert next Tuesday.
