All twenty of the speakers contending for the Coolidge Prize and for places on the Harvard-Yale-Princeton debating teams survived the second eliminatory trials, held last night in the Lowell House Common Room.
Edward M. Rowe '27 declared that last night's speakers provided such stiff competition that he was unable, at these tryouts to single out individuals unworthy of retention for further tests. This afternoon at 6:00 o'clock, all competing debaters are expected to hand in briefs covering both the affirmative and negative views on the Supreme Court situation.
On the bases of the merit of the briefs Rowe, assisted by three others, will attempt to thin the ranks to 12 speakers.
