Approximately 500 more or less distinguished Harvard graduates from all parts of the country will converge upon Indianapolis for the fortieth annual meeting of the Associated Harvard Clubs, beginning Friday evening, May 14. The session will continue for three days.
It was in this mid-western city, in 1897, that the Associated Club was first organized by delegates from the several club units in that area. And it is there that this year's representatives will convene to hear such speakers as President James B. Conant '14, and James M. Landis '24, chairman of the Social Securities Exchange Commission and dean elect of the Law School.
Lincoln Hotel Headquarters
Convention headquarters are to be in the Lincoln Hotel, where the alumni will gather Saturday morning for a reception to Harvard faculty members and for their annual business session, which will include the election of officers. At this meeting President Conant, George F. Plimpton '14, Associate Dean of Harvard College in charge of Alumni Placement and Student Employment David M. Little '17, Secretary to the University; and A. Chester Hanford '17, Dean of Harvard College, will talk briefly. Landis Chief Speaker
Dean-elect Landis will be the chief speaker at the luncheon which will be held on Saturday afternoon at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. George H. Chase '96, Dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will preside, and several Harvard faculty members will discuss the work of the various graduate schools.
Pesident Conant will make his second appearance on the rostrum of the convention Saturday evening at the annual banquet of the Athletic Club. Grenville Clark '03, New York lawyer and member of the Harvard Corporation; Professor-Emeritus Frank W. Taussig '79, president of the Harvard Alumni Association; Mackey Wells '07, head of the Associated Clubs this year; and the new leader, who will be elected by the convention for the ensuing year, are also slated to speak.
