Pacifism, perennial Spring flower of American college idealism, blooms again Thursday morning when at 11 o'clock university students stage a nation-wide anti-war strike and walk out from classes.

The Harvard program, as reported by sponsors last night, features as chief speaker in the New Lecture Hall Professor Frederick L. Schumann, of Williams College, author of "Nazi Dictatorship" and "International Polities."

Faculty backing is coming from a committee which includes Julius Seelye Bixler, Bussey Professor of Theology and acting dean of the Divinity School; Clarence C. Brinton '19, associate professor of History; Rupert Emerson '21, assistant professor of Government; Robert D. Field '30, assistant professor of Fine Arts; Kirtley F. Mather, professor of Geology; Francis O. Matthiessen '26, associate professor in History and Literature; and others.

Dean Hanford has given his sanction to the meeting, which will be the second held indoors since the ban placed on outdoor rallies.

Undergraduate sponsor is the United Peace Committee. Participants include the Student Union, the Teachers Union, and the Radcliffe Student Union.

Following the strike, a second meeting will take place at 12 o'clock on the Boston Common, sponsored by colleges in the city area and headed by W. Tucker Dean, Jr. '37.
