Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
In their first time trial of the season at a racing beat, the Varsity crew covered the mile and three quarters course in 9:12 on Saturday afternoon. Since the best time made by Harvard last year was 9:10, Saturday's time was considered highly encouraging for so early in the season.
Given a three length handicap, the Varsity passed the Jayvees and beat them to the finish by two lengths with the third and fourth boats about five lengths behind. The fourth crew, stroked by Cedric Francis, nosed out the thirds by half a length, which will mean some shifts in these boats before the final cut.
The lightweight Varsity also turned in an excellent early season time, 7:12 for the Henley distance, which equals the best time made by them any time last season.
