BASEBALL SQUAD WINS TWO, LOSES TWO GAMES

Two wins out of four games was the best the varsity baseball team could garner from its annual southern tour. Prospects looked bright in the initial contest with George Washington as the Crimson rapped out 16 hits for a 15-3 win. Ed Ingalls pitched good early season ball, limiting the enemy the six blows.

At Navy the situation was reversed and the Mitchelmen blow a four run first frame lead to lose 12-10 in seven innings. Weak pitching combined with unusually loose playing afield brought Harvard to defeat.

With the Virginia game washed out, the squad traveled to Georgetown where another defeat was tacked on them, 16-15 in a ten inning game played in a steady drizzle and ankle-deep mud. Georgetown scored five runs in the final frame to salt away the encounter.

At New York on Saturday, the Crimson gathered in its first Intercollegiate Lesgue victory pasting Columbia for a 14-2 trimming. With the game held to seven innings due to extreme cold. Ed Ingalls kept the Lions at his mercy for his second win of the trip. Al Colwell, who had been held out of the carlier games because of a twisted knee, made his season debut by riding out a long home run into the Harlem River.
