8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Undoubtedly the only sport in the University about which its coach can truthfully say. "It is a game played purely for the fun one derives from it" is the loosely -organized, informal sport of rugby. At the first meeting of the perspective Rugby Club candidates last night, Coach Sidney Cabot, President Allan Simpson, and Captain Hayden Channing '37 all stressed this fact.
Paramount evidence of the verity of this unique attitude, is the annual trip to Bermuda where the team guiltlessly disregards already non-existent training rules, to enjoy its Easter vacation as one should. Another feature of an intersquad game, rather than concentrated practice in perfecting fundamentals.
Hopes are high that this year's team will be as successful as last year's in completing an undefeated season. These hopes are backed by an unusually large turnout of candidates to compensate for the loss of some of the club's veterans.
After the Bermuda trip, the club's schedule includes games with Nassau College, Long Island University, the Boston Rugby Club, Princeton, the French Rugby Club, and Yale; and a tentative date has been made to meet the N.Y.U. team at Randolph Field in New York.
