As their twenty-sixth revival, the Harvard Chapter of Delta Upsilon Fraternity will present "Thorns and Orange Blossoms", a melodrama, at 8 o'clock Friday and Saturday nights, March 12 and 13. The Friday performance will be followed by a formal dance with Frank McGinley and his orchestra playing until 2:30 o'clock, while there will be informal dancing till 12 o'clock on Saturday.
"Thorns and Orange Blossoms", a super-melodrama of the Gay Nineties period, is of the same school of "Ten Nights in a Bar-room" and "East Lynne", and business manager Peter Rabenold '37 guarantees that there will not be a dry eye in the house at the finish of the tragic third act, Delta Upsilon actors will take the parts of hero, villian, heroine, will do their utmost to see that virtue triumphs over evil.
Between 1896 and 1916, with the exception of two years, Delta Upsilon annually revived an Elizabethan play. Interrupted by the World War, the annual tradition was not resumed till 1931. Since that year, the chapter has presented either Elizabethan or nineteenth century revivals.
Delta Upsilon members who will take part in this presentation include Charles E. Tuttle '37, Howard H. Bristol '38, Alfred R. Brenholtz '38, William P. Gresham, Jr. '37, William Welch '38, M. Hollingsworth Cornell '37, T. Walter Hardy, Jr. '37, Willard H. Griffin '37, Richard F. Rabenold '39, Henry Lioyd '37.
