BERSSENBRUGGE TELLS PLANS OF VERSE PLAY

Plans for the student production of the verse play "Murder in the Cathedral," by T. S. Eliot, were announced yesterday by William B. Berssenbrugge '37, director.

Sponsoring the production, which will take place in Fogg Museum March 19 and 20, is the newly formed undergraduate group, the Harvard Poet's Theatre. The organization is the first club of its kind devoted to popularizing the modern poetic drama in this country.

Advisors

As advisors the students have secured the services of Archibald MacLeish '17; Robert S. Hillyer '17, associate professor of English; F. O. Matthiessen, associate professor in English and History; Theodore Spencer associate professor in English; Kenneth B. Murdock '16, professor of English; J. Tucker Murray '99, professor of English; Frederick C. Packard '20, assistant professor of Public Speaking; Percy Mackaye, dramatist; and Dudley Pitts, dramatist and translator.

Students playing minor roles are: Benedict Einarson, J.P.F., John H. Huntington '40, Michael Linenthal '37, Howard T. Roman 1G., Richmond Holder '40, and John W. Sever '40. The lead part, that of the tragic Thomas Becket, will be played by the Broadway veteran E. Irving Looke.

Stage manager will be Henry H. Urrows '30, assisted by Roger Shepherd '40. Alphonso Ossorio '38 is preparing the costumes and John Van Horne '40 is making masks. The music for the play will be by F. L. P. White '38. The Leverett House Glee Club will sing Gregorian chants
