With a ton of old wearing apparel as its goal, Phillips Brooks House today launches its annual drive for old clothes under the direction of Calvin W. Stillman '39.
After collection the clothes will be sent to the Cambridge Family Welfare Association for distribution, Haymond H. Dennett '36, P. B. H. graduate secretary, announced last night. A portion will be held out for the Grenfell Mission in Labrador.
"Warm overcoats and sweaters, no matter how worn, are what we particularly want at this time of year, Dennett said. He added that old magazines will be collected to be sent to homes and institutions. In past years drives have netted up to 600 pounds of old periodicals.
Canvassers will also attempt to secure textbooks for the Brooks House Library, according to Dennett. Representatives in each House will conduct the drive among upperclassmen, while the P. B. H. Freshman Committee will cover Yard dormitories.
