Seven College Newspapers Select Two Crimson Gridders for Ivy League Team

Two members of the Crimson eleven, Alex Kevorkian and Vern Struck, won places on the All Ivy League football team, selected by representatives of the undergraduate newspapers of the seven schools in the unofficial circuit.

"Because he has done a wonderful job since his arrival in Cambridge," Dick Harlow was named head coach of the mythical eleven. Three were appointed as assistant coaches, Earl Blaik and Harry Ellinger of Dartmouth and Harry Neal of Yale, all with the same number of votes.

Don Daughters and Bob Green as ends, Joe Nee and Chuck Klein as guards received honorable mention with one vote.

Kevorkian Only Unanimous Choice

Only one choice, that of Kevorkian, was unanmous. The big tackle was praised as "the spearhead of the Crimson forward wall throughout the season."

For his precision on spinner plays "Struck was awarded one of the half-back posts, with Clint Frank of Yale at quarter, Sid Luckman Columbia's chief groundgainer, at the other half, and Bob McLoed, captain-elect for the Big Green, in the fullback post.

Elis, Indians Have Three Named

Undefeated Dartmouth and once beaten Yale led the polling with three men on the first team, while Harvard and Cornell each had two men represented, and Columbia one.

Brud Holland of Cornell, who has received All-American mention on several teams, and Merrill Davis of Dartmouth were at the ends. Along with Kevorkian, William Platt, the newly elected, captain for next year's Yale team, were the tackles.

At the guard posts were Cornell's Eli Hooper and the Indians' Gus Zitrides with Frank Gallagher, veteran Eli center, completing the line.

Each of the college newspapers was represented by an Editor who had covered football during the season. Donald B. Straus '38 and John R. Reidy '38 submitted the CRIMSON'S nominations.
