Harvard Chess Makes Debut Among College Periodicals

Freshman Edits Experimental Issue Of New Magazine

Harvard Chess, a new publication edited by Louis R. Chauvenet '41, will join the ranks of undergraduate periodicals today when it goes in sale at the Union today.

Although the lead editorial states that "this, our first number, is frankly an experimental one," the sponsors of the four page magazine plan to publish a second issue in February with the hope of establishing publication on a regular basis in the future.

Advocating a tournament for Freshmen in the spring, the magazine reports an assault on the ladder boards in the Union by a "certain gay young gentleman on the evening of the Freshman dance."

The B team is reported standing second among eight teams at the halfway mark of the League season, with a record of three wins, three ties, and one loss.
