Following a stand made last year, commercialized broadcasts of Harvard football games from the Stadium next fall will not be allowed, University officials said last night.
An offer was made to the H.A.A. to sponsor radio broadcasts of the seven home games of the 1938 eleven, but despite the action of the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports, which voted in favor of the plan, it was refused because it was contradictory to University policy.

As in the case of the Yale broadcasts, it is believed that the offer came from an oil company, and also that the money obtained would have been put into the Athletic Endowment fund.
The opinion of the University officials in taking this action is part of a policy to prevent over-emphasis on athletics and avoid a commercialistic of football. The financial consideration was thought to be minor.
This action is concurrent with that believed to be taken by Princeton, but Yale, receiving $30,000 from the Atlantic Refining Company this fall, is apparently satisfied with the arrangement and is going to continue it.
