With Championship Clinched Kirkland Loses to Puritans 7-0; Elephants Trounce Dunster 14-0

Victories Yesterday Place Eliot and Winthrop in Deadlock for Second Place

With the House championship securely in their possession regardless of the outcome of their game, the Kirkland eleven bowed to Winthrop 7-0 yesterday. In the other encounter played, Eliot's team took a 14-0 decision from Dunster. The victories of the Puritans and Elephants put them in a tie for second place in the standing.

Aerials Decide

Two passes were enough to give Winthrop its lone and deciding touchdown in its triumph. First quarterback Flinn threw a pass to fullback Weller. Then Weller tossed one to right end Baumgarten, who raced over the goal from the 20-yard line. Versatile Baumgarten caught his breath, then drop-kicked the point.

Eliot encountered surprisingly stiff opposition from the hapless Dunsterites, but superior Elephant power, plus the spectacular play of halfback Ashley Trope, told the story.

After tossing an aerial to halfback Bill Oates to set up the score. Trope jaunted around end for a t. down. In the third period Trope passed to Carter "Slugger" White, Elephant captain and fullback, and the latter ran 40 yards to the money. Trope converted via the dropkick route.

For the Funsters the play of "Red" Bailey at fullback was outstanding.
