Gas fumes in the basement corridors of Lowell House Monday were caused by a dead-end main on Holyoke Street leaking through the wall of the cellar it was reported today. Up to early yesterday morning workmen of the Cambridge Gas Company were drilling and shopping the street in front of the Cambridge Athletic Building in an effort to remedy the hazard. There is no gas piped into Lowell.
