Freshman Chess Competition Began at Union Yesterday

40 Men Enter Tournament Which Will Continue Throughout Year

Competitions have begun in the newly organized Freshman chess tournament. Over 40 men have already signed up for the contest which will continue throughout the whole year.

First of its kind to be formed by Freshmen, the tourney will be headed by Ariel A. Mengarini '41. Purpose of this innovation is to develop future material for University teams, organizers announced.

This is the fourth in the new radio lecture series, arranged by the University every Tuesday night over WIXAL.
