PISTOL CLUB TO HOLD SECOND METROPOLITAN LEAGUE MATCH TONIGHT

In their second match of the current season, the Pistol Club, led by Louis G. Buntley '37, captain, will compete against the teams of the Metropolitan Pistel League at 74 Purchase St., Boston, tonight at 8:30.

Eight teams, including M.I.T. and various reserve corps and national guard squads comprise the league. Six matches are played, one each month. Last year the Boston Rifie and Revolver Club captured the title.

In their first match of the year, the Crimson was defeated by M.I.T. 790 to 809. Spencer D. Howe, Jr. '37 was high scorer with 163 points out of a possible 200. Lawrence L. Arnold '38 was runner-up to Howe with 160 out of 200. A special handicap feature between the individual members of the team just before Christmas vacation resulted in a triumph for Alfred M. Torrielli '39.

Captain Lawrence B. Bixby, coach of the team, yesterday said , "The team is stronger this year than it ever has been before. The addition of several promising marksmen makes me feel that this may be the most successful intercollegiate season we have ever experienced."

On April 15 the team meets M.I.T. again in Boston. On successive weeks they meet Cornell in an intercollegiate match and Yale in an R.O.T.C. postal match. Here each team shoots simultaneously in its own gallery and the results are mailed to the judges. On May 6 the Metropolitan League meets here in Memorial Hall and on May 12 the season closes with a competition among the individual members of the team. Medals are given out and officers will be elected.

The scoring for the matches is done on a basis of 20 rounds fired, with a possible score of 10 points on each round. The shooting is done from a distance of 60 feet with 22 calibre pistols in 45 calibre frame.
