BAND PRACTICE OPENS FOR NEW MEN TUESDAY

Regulars Report Wednesday as Drill for Amherst Game Starts--Ranks are Depleted by Graduation

Harvard's most highly publicized extracurricular organization, the legitimate fame of which exceeds even that of the football team, the Band, will hold its first tryouts in Sanders Theatre Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2 until 4 o'clock.

"The maximum enjoyment on the minimum effort" is its slogan. "All you have to be able to do is play a note." The genius of the directors is so great that only two rehearsals during the week suffice to make perfect the maneuvers and music at Saturday football games.

This year there are large gaps in the 107 piece front which paraded last fall. With the first scheduled appearance of the group against Amherst next week the initial practice for veterans is on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 o'clock.

As usual, there will be one trip during the season, while the immediate object of the leaders is to exceed last year's record of more than 200 letters.

The regular schedule ends with the football season.
