Undaunted by the impressive barouche drawn by two spirited plugs and a coachman with a fondness for beer, the CRIMSON nine (teen) soundly trounced the Lampoon's ball club 23-2 in the annual encounter on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. It was the 42nd game which the legitimate editors have garnered by the same score.
Freddy Ayer, playing an unidentified position for the Lafargemen made IS circuit jaunts for the losers on what turned out to be a foul ball, and was easily the outstanding man on the field for the pseudo-humorists.
Going into the fourth inning with a 23 run lead, the CRIMSON editors struck out in order for the remaining innings so that the long time tradition might be maintained and they refused to run up the score on the other team, which was obviously out of condition.
Preceded by a fanfare of trumpets, the two teams left the Lampoon Building at 2.30 o'clock in the afternoon in order to get to the field in time for the conflict and not disappoint the large crowd of spectators who had already gathered for the annual event. Proceeding through the Square to the accompaniment of automobile horns and cheers of the student body the rival athletes hung all over the horse-drawn vehicle and were forced to dismount to help the laboring animals over the Dary Anderson Bridge before they could get to the field and play the game.
