COMMENCEMENT PARTS TRIALS CLOSE APRIL 18

An extension on the closing date of the competition for Commencement Day speeches has been granted according to announcement by Frederick C. Packard '20, assistant professor of Public Speaking. The competition will now close on April 18.

Three men will be chosen, one a candidate for a graduate degree, and the other two undergraduate honors candidates. One of the undergraduates will deliver his address in Latin.

Speaker's Committee

The committee in charge of the selection of speakers is composed of the following: George H. Chase '96, Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Packard, Edward K. Rand '94, Pope Professor of Latin, and Frank W. C. Hersey '99.

The Commencement Day speakers differ from the Class Day speakers in that the latter are elected by the Senior Class as an independent unit, while the Commencement Day speakers represent the University as a whole. The Class Day oration is primarily a class affair and so is elective.
