University at St. Louis Draws Member of Faculty Away in Fall

Offer of the direction of the Department with a full professorship to take effect in September draws Walter Sils '17, assistant professor of German, away from Harvard to the University of Washington, at St. Louis.

At present teacher in German 1a, Prose and Poetry, 4, Goethe, 2a, Topics in the works of Heinrich von Kleist, and 26, Nineteenth Century literature, Professor Silz has been a member of the Faculty since 1922.

In that time he was absent on a Guggenheim Fellowship at Berlin and Munich in 1926-27, and in 1930 when he visited the Western colleges of Carliton, Grinnell, Pomona.

As author, Professor Sils' most recent works are "Early German Romanticism" and "German Romantic Lyrics", which appeared in 1929 and 1934 respectively.
