Fred B. Phleger, Jr., Assistant in Paleontology, has been awarded a Sheldon Traveling Fellowship in Geology, and Alan S. Downer, 2G won a Charles Downer Scholarship, according to an announcement yesterday.
Phleger, a graduate of both the University of Southern California and California Institute of Technology, will study in Europe next year. The Sheldon Fellowship which he won was established here in 1909 in memory of Frederick Sheldon '42.
Downer, studying English here, graduated with honors in 1934. The Downer Scholarship, which he was granted was established by the bequest of Charles Downer '92. The two awards total $2500.
