Leading off with a six-goal chukker, the Yale malletmen had no difficulty in downing the Crimson Varsity polo team 9 1-2 to 5 in the feature match at the Commonwealth Armory Saturday night.
Paced by Bob Wilson, hard riding number two, who scored six goals himself, the Blue visitors successfully bottled the Crimson scoring threats, Captain Ed Gery and Skiddy Von Stade, limiting them to two goals apiece.
After the bad first canto, the Crimson came back to hold the enemy even in the second chukker and to outscore them in the third, but the six-goal handicap was too great to overcome.
By defeating a maloeshift Artillery outfit in a preliminary game Saturday night 6 1-2 to 3, the Junior Varsity riders won their way into the finals of the Class B Indoor League. Pete Jay and Winston Frost played especially well for the Crimson.
Outscored by the Schoolboys from Avon Old Farms, the Yardling poloists lost 13 to 3 1-2 Saturday afternoon on the Hartford, Connecticut tanbark.
