8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Desiring to devote more time to his duties as Assistant Dean of the College. Henry Chauncey '27 has resigned his post as Freshman Baseball Coach and will be succeeded by Adolph W. Samborski '26, instructor in Physical Education.
Dean Chauncey informed William J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics, by telephone of his decision when the latter was at the annual meeting of the Football Rules Committee in California recently.
In his past two years as Yardling mentor, Coach Chauncey has produced two excellent teams which have both defeated Yale as well as setting up fine records in their other games. Last year's nine won 14 out of 16 games, including a 7-4 victory over the Eli Freshmen.
Although he has also assisted with Freshman and House football, Dean Chauncey will forego all athletic coaching in order to have more time free for interviewing candidates throughout the country who are applying for the new National Scholarship established under the Three Hundredth Anniversary Fund.
Samborski, who is at present the Freshman Basketball Coach, has directed the Junior Varsity, Baseball. Team for the last few seasons. Bingham stated last night that no successor will be appointed to fill the Junior Varsity vacancy until after the Spring Vacation.
