INTENSIVE FOOTBALL PRACTICE CONTINUES

Emphasis Placed on Offensive Plays and Easy Tacking Is Indulged in for First Time

Getting down to fundamentals sooner than any other squad in the memory of experienced observers, Coach Dick Harlow's gridders ran through a fast, strenuous practice on the greensward of Soldiers Field yesterday.

Usually Spring practices are very informal affairs with little drill on anything but signals and setting-up exercises. Not so under the second year of the Harlow regime. With a plethora of assistant coaches the men are put through intensive drill which includes everything from dummy dodging to running backwards.

Tackling was indulged in for the first time yesterday. The emphasis was all on the timing, however, with runners being warned to "go slow", and tacklers cautioned to "take it easy". The coaching staff is running no chance of spring accidents to cripple the squad prematurely. All men are also required now to wear ankle wraps, and headguards at all sessions.
