HAINES, CONSTITUTION EXPERT, HERE NEXT YEAR

BOOKS ON JUDICIAL SUPREMACY ARE STANDARD TEXTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Charles G. Haines, professor of political sciences at the University of California at Los Angeles, will be on the staff of the Government department next year in the capacity of visiting professor, it was learned yesterday.

Haines, an authority on constitutional law will give the first half of Government 19 in the absence of Henry A. Yeomans '00, Professor of Government. It is also probable that he will give a similar course in constitutional law.

Doctor From Columbia

Professor Haines graduated from Ursinus College, and then took his doctorate at Columbia in 1909, returning to his home college to teach history and political science.

At Whitman he headed the philosophy group for four years, and in 1914 he was called to the University of Texas of teach law and head the Department of Government there. He has held his present position since 1925.

Natural Law

Among his published works, probably the best known is "The Revival of Natural Law Concepts" written in 1930. "The American Doctrine of Judicial Supremacy" has long been recognized as a standard work since its publication in 1914.

At present Oliver P. Field, visiting Professor of Government is taking Yeoman's place and conducting Government 19, American Constitutional Law. Field will return to the University of Minnesota for the academic year 1936-37.
