SCHAAF WINS EDWARDS WHITAKER SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Award to "Freshman Showing Outstanding Scholastic Ability and Intellectual Promise"

Royal Sommer Schaaf '39, of Newark, has been awarded the Edwards Whitaker Prize Scholarship, given annually at mid-years to the Freshman "who shows the most outstanding scholastic ability and intellectual promise as indicated by distinction in studies and general achievement."

Schaaf prepared at Phillips Exeter Academy, and has been a group 1 scholar so far this year. He is a member of the Band and interested in history, having been a member of the History Club at Exeter and winning a Prize History Essay Contest. He had a very high scholastic record at Exeter.
