Gaetano Salvemini, Lauro de Bosis Lecturer on the History of Italian Civilization, will compare the Fascist Teachers' Oath in Italy with that now in effect in Massachusetts when he testifies today at a continuation of the legislative hearing on the repeal of the Teachers' Oath Bill. Kirtley F. Mather, professor of Geology, is also expected to speak.
Educators Oppose Bill
The hearing will take place at 10.30 o'clock at the State House in Boston, under the direction of the Joint Committee on Education from both Houses of the Legislature.
Many prominent figures in education will testify, including President Stanley King of Amherst, President J. Edgar Park of Wheaton College, Headmaster Claude M. Fuess of Andover, and Miss Dorothy Waldo, head of Dana Hall School for Girls in Wellesley and President of the Massachusetts Private School Association.
Screen Writer to Speak
Among the other speaking events of today is the talk on "Discovering Aristotle in Hollywood" which Miss Dorothy Speare, Hollywood scenario writer and author of the film "One Night of Love" will give to English A-4 in Sever 11 at two o'clock this afternoon. All visitors are welcome.
At 8.15 tonight in the Lowell House Common Room, Warwick M. Tompkins, captain of the schooner "Wanderbird" will speak and show motion pictures of the "Wanderbird and the Blue Waters."
1939 Debate Trials Monday
1939 will turn its attention to speaking Monday afternoon from five to six o'clock when trials are held in the Upper Union Common Room for the Andover debate on April 10 and the return engagement with Exeter on April 15. The two subjects are posted on the Union Bulletin Board. No man who has engaged in a previous debate is eligible for the competitions.
