HAND, CIRCUIT JUDGE, SPEAKS TONIGHT AT 8

Judge Augustus N. Hand '90, of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the second circuit speaks tonight at 8 o'clock in the Langdell Hall Court Room on "The Lawyer and the Judge."

Judge Hand is speaking under the auspices of the Phillips Brooks House Law School Comittee, and he will be introduced by Professor Felix Frankfurter. The last speaker sponsored by this committee was William L. Ransom, president of the American Bar Association.

Magna Cum Laude

Hand, who graduated magna cum laude, received both the A.M. degree and his Bachelor of Laws in 1894. He began practice in New York the next year, and joined the firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, and Colt. Later he organized his own firm and practiced until 1914. In that year he was appointed a Judge of the United States District Court by President Wilson.

President Coolidge in 1927 raised him to his present position. Hand has also been president of the Harvard Law School Association of New York, and the New York Phillips Exeter Alumni Association of New York.
