ONE DRUNKARD AND AN IDIOT INCLUDED AMONG GRADUATES

Clergymen, idiots, public servants, and drunkards, and one Indian teacher were all furnished to the community by Harvard in the seventeenth century, Samuel Eliot Morison '07, professor of History, revealed in his "Harvard College in the Seventeenth Century." This is a volume of the Tercentenary history just issued.

Clergymen, with 265 out of 543 graduates, led. Governors, councillors, judges, and deputies straggled along with 67, while 35 graduates developed into physicians. 18 became dirt farmers, closely pursued by 17 teachers. Ten soldiers and sailors did Harvard's part in national defense.
