Almost half a hundred entries for the University Handicap Meet have already been made with more expected before the starting gun sounds for the races today and tomorrow. Handicaps will not be allotted until the men have lined up, making it difficult to spot likely winners, but there are several outstanding men in each event.

In the 45-yard high hurdles Bill Schmidt and Dick Hayes are the most probable contenders. Hayes is a letterman while Schmidt was kept out of last year's Yale Meet only by an injury. Schmidt is also entered in the dash where he will receive competition from a host of dashmen, both Freshmen and upperclassmen.

Richard A. Brayton '37 whom Jaakko spotted as a 300-yarder after he had come over from the cross-country squad, is expected to set the pace in this race. Alfred J. Hanlen '39 and Alec C. Northrop will match strides in the 600-yard event with the relatively short distance favoring the Freshman.

Northrop will have a better chance in the 3/4-mile race, but the competition here will also be greater with almost the whole cross country squad entered. Henry O. Marcy '38, Charles C. Worth '37, William H. Wright '38, and Brayton are all entered. Marcy and Worth have also gone into the 1 1/2 mile grind.

Five field events will also bring forth a list of performers with Theodore Plotkin '38 being favored in the broad jump due to Milt Green's absence.
