In a close match at the Harvard Club yesterday the squash team held the Harvard Club A team to a 3-3 tie. The varsity is now in third place in the Massachusetts State A League, with the Harvard Club second, and the Union Boat Club in the lead. If the team beats the University Club in their last league match next Tuesday, it has a chance to squeeze into second place.
Playing in the number one position, Germain G. Glidden '36 eked out a victory yesterday over J. M. Hall of the Harvard Club. Thomas Jansen downed Richard W. Glider '36 in straight games, all of which were very hard fought, 15-10, 15-11, 16-15. Alvah W. Sulloway '38 lost to J. G. Cornish. Both Richard M. Dorson '37 and John L. Clark '36 won their matches, the former downing A. M. Somnabend, and Clark defeating H. S. Howes, Jr. In the last match, upon which the outcome of the meet depended, James J. Thackera '36 pushed A. L. Devens up to the very last point, but finally lost.
In the first intercollegiate match of the season, the team will meet Princeton on Saturday at the Linden Street Courts.
