Four Professors Will Give Lectures on Great Authors

A series of lectures on the great authors in world literature to be given on successive Wednesday afternoons beginning February 12 in Emerson D at 4:30 o'clock has been planned.

These lectures are intended primarily for students in the University or Radcliffe who are concentrating in modern and ancient literature. Their purpose is to furnish some guides and suggestions for further study by the students. No tickets are required for admission, the series being open to all members of the University and Radcliffe College.

George L. Kittredge '82, Gurney Professor of English Literature, will open the series on February 12 with a lecture on Shakespeare. On February 19, Charles B. Gulick '90, Eliot Professor of Greek Literature, will talk on Plato. Cicero will be the subject of Arthur S. Pease '02, professor of Latin, on February 26. Jeremiah D. M. Ford '94, Smith Professor of the French and Spanish Languages, will close the series on March 4 with a lecture on Cervantes.
