A debate on the question, "Resolved, That the United States should apply sanctions," will take place Wednesday night at 8.30 o'clock in Emerson D under the auspices of the Liberal Club. Taking the affirmative will be Clark M. Eichelberger with Bruce Bliven on the negative.
Mr. Eichelberger, an authority on world affairs, is national director of the League of Nations Association, which has taken an active part in the attempt to induce America to become a member of the league. Recently he was awarded the Cross of the League of Honor by the French government for distinguished service during the war and for contributing to cause of international understandings by his speeches and writing.
Bruce Bliven, editor of the New Republic, has made a through study of the urgent situation now confronting the Congress of the United States. Author of a series of articles on the question in the New Republic called "They Cry Peace, Peace," Mr. Bliven has just completed a tour of the country in an effort to determine the sentiment of the people.
The debate will be open to all members of the University.
