Succeeding his father "Astor", who nightly wandered through the silent corridors of Fogg Museum, "Rex" took over the duties of watchdog of the Arts in a simple but dignified ceremony Monday night.
"Astor", a full-blooded Belgian shepherd, died last week. An autopsy proved he had succumbed to gall stones and a tumor. His only falling was that in his old age he became "unhousebroken".
"Rex", like his father owned by the President and Fellows, is the only dog in the world owned by a corporation. He is well bred as well as aristocratic, having been trained to refrain from biting any intruders found in his nightly patrol.
