Stroked by George S. Lewis '88, the Varsity lightweights defeated the second 150-pound crew by a little over a length Friday afternoon. William P. Rogers, Jr. '39 stroked the second crew. The race was rowed over a three-quarter mile distance from the M.I.T. boathouse to the Harvard Bridge.
The race marked the end of the fall rowing season for the lightweights who are under Bert Haines' coaching for the first time. The Varsity and Freshmen will continue rowing next week, the inexperienced Freshman crews staging a race Wednesday afternoon. Varsity boats will probably race on Friday and then have a layoff until after Midyears.
